NEWS BRIEFS: Tree-trimming to cause delays in Port Townsend … and other items

PORT TOWNSEND – Tree-trimming will cause traffic delays on state Highway 20 from Tuesday through Friday.

Drivers who use state Route 20 between U.S. Highway 101 and Port Townsend are encouraged to plan ahead for delays and to add travel time to reach their destinations.

From 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Tuesday through Friday, drivers might experience one-way alternating traffic from milepost 1.8 to 2.2 near Eaglemount Road. Drivers can expect delays of up to 30 minutes, the state Department of Transportation said.

Maintenance crews will trim tree branches and remove potentially hazardous trees, Transportation said.

The work must be done during daytime hours to quell safety concerns, Transportation said.
