The work party will be from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday at 121 W. Front St. in the sunken parking lot.

Most work will be done under the tent so rain won’t be an issue, but volunteers should dress for the weather, according to a press release.

New flag pole

QUILCENE — Quilcene High School sports fields have a new 35-foot-tall flag pole courtesy of Olin Reynolds.

Reynolds, a senior at Quilcene High School and member of the varsity football squad, installed the refurbished flagpole as an Eagle Scout leadership project.

Previously the fields had no flag pole and a flag would have to be brought out from the auditorium for pre-game ceremonies.

The project was completed with more than 50 hours of planning and labor by members of Boy Scout Troop 1480, Quilcene High School football players, Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 3213 and Quilcene School District staff.

The VFW Post 3213 will conduct an official dedication of the flag pole later.
