Community support

SEQUIM — The Human Services Emergency Fund distributed through Sequim Police Department continues to grow and support those in need.

After nine months, the city has received donations of $7,600 and used about $1,500, Bush said.

Police have helped 65 individuals, including 19 individual adults and 13 families, in 32 instances ranging from providing food, gas and lodging vouchers to shoes during the recent snowfall.

Through the community group Sequim Cares, the police help provide these services for those with an immediate need. Service also is coordinated through different agencies to ensure support isn’t abused.

To donate to the fund, send checks to the “City of Sequim” at 152 W. Cedar St., Sequim, WA 98382, with the memo line “Human Services Emergency Fund.”

For questions, call the Sequim Police Department at 360-683-7227.
