PORT ANGELES — The RV Care-A-Vanners will be in Port Angeles for four weeks to volunteer with Habitat for Humanity.
The group travels around the U.S. and Canada to help local Habitat for Humanity affiliates build hundreds of houses annually.
They will also participate in the Port Angeles Fourth of July parade and the Wine Festival on July 9.
Anyone with a recreational vehicle, motor home, fifth wheel or travel trailer, individual RV owners or organized groups, can join the RV Care-A-Vanners through Habitat for Humanity International.

Therapy dog club
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., will host the Olympic Gentle Paws Therapy Dog Club at 3:30 p.m. Thursday.
According to a news release: “Reading to a dog or other pet creates a supportive and fun environment in which readers of all ages and abilities can practice their skills with confidence and joy.
“Research shows that the more a child reads, the more their reading skills improve.
“For nervous or self-conscious readers, reading to therapy dogs can be a helpful way to practice reading without feeling intimidated or judged.”

Training sessions
SEQUIM — The Sequim-Dungeness Valley will host a training session for volunteers for Sequim Lavender Weekend at the Sequim Civic Center, 152 W. Cedar St., at 5 p.m. Thursday.
The session will include information about the farms on tour, transportation options, fee structures, the Street Fair and community events.

Soccer storytime
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St., will host a soccer-themed storytime with the Peninsula College soccer team at 10:30 a.m. Thursday.
Participants ages 3 to 5 will hear stories about soccer and learn rhymes and a few basic soccer moves.

Flight practice
COUPEVILLE — There will be field carrier landing practice operations for aircraft stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island at the outlying field Thursday.
Operations are scheduled for the afternoon.
The schedule is subject to change to meet mission requirements.

Meditation sessions
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Shambhala Group now offers a 20-minute group meditation sit every Thursday at 6 p.m. at the Sons of Norway Hall, 131 W. Fifth St.
Each session is followed by an inspirational reading and discussion.
Instruction in mindfulness meditation is provided in the group setting or individually upon request.
The group is free and open to the public.
The Shambhala group has been teaching meditation for 50 years.
It is based on the Tibetan Buddhist meditation taught by Chogyam Trungpa Rinpoche.

Dress-up storytime
The North Olympic Library System will host a dress-up storytime at the Forks Library, 171 S. Forks Ave., at 10:30 a.m. this Friday and the Clallam Bay Library, 16990 state Highway 112, at 3 p.m. Tuesday, July 26.
There will be songs, rhymes and stories, followed by a dress-up party set to music.
A wardrobe of costumes and accessories will be available for all attendees to borrow.
The event for ages 2 to 6 is free.
Advance registration is required for attendees at the Clallam Bay branch.

Ice-cream social
SEQUIM — The Sequim Prairie Grange, 290 Macleay Road, will have an ice-cream social from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, July 10.
Banana splits and sundaes are $5 each.
Proceeds will go to benefit the Sequim Prairie Grange Building Fund.

The North Olympic Library System libraries has pedometers available for checkout.
Pedometers keep track of how many steps are walked and calories burned.
Each pedometer can be borrowed for up to one week and comes equipped with quick-start instructions.
