Hutchison fundraiser

PORT ANGELES — A fundraising reception for Susan Hutchison, who is challenging U.S. Sen. Maria Cantwell in the November general election, is set for 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday.

The reception, hosted by the Clallam County Republican Party, will be at Kokopeli Grill, 203 E. Front St., Port Angeles.

The suggested donation is $100 per person; contributions of any amount are accepted, said organizers.

Other Republicans expected at the reception are County Commissioner Bill Peach; Jim McEntire, who is challenging Democrat Rep. Steve Tharinger, a Democrat, for a Legislative District 24 seat; Jodi Wilke, who is challenging Rep. Mike Chapman, a Democrat, for a Legislative District 26 seat; and Mathhew Rainwater, chairman of the county GOP.

County Prosecuting Attorney Mark Nichols — who is opposed by Selinda Barkhuis, who filed with no party preference — had planned to attend but may not be present because of a scheduling conflict, according to Rainwater.

Rainwater said that Hutchison may be touring Airborne ECS, and possibly other local businesses, prior to the reception.

Those who plan to attend are asked to RSVP to Sue Forde at clallamgop@gmail.com or at 360-775-4222.
