PORT TOWNSEND — The Northwind Reading Series will present Sally Albiso and Jeannine Hall Gailey at 7 p.m. Thursday at the Northwind Arts Center, 701 Water St.
Albiso earned a Bachelor of Arts in Spanish from the University of California, Los Angeles, and a Master of Arts in English with a creative writing emphasis from San Diego State University.
She taught English as a second language at Chapman College, South Dakota State University Extension and Southwestern College.
She has been nominated for two Pushcart Prizes and received the Jeanne Lohmann Poetry Prize, the Robert Frost Foundation Poetry Award and the Camber Press Chapbook Award for her chapbook “Newsworthy.”
Gailey recently served as the second Poet Laureate of Redmond.
She is the author of five books of poetry: “Becoming the Villainess,” “She Returns to the Floating World,” “Unexplained Fevers,” “The Robot Scientist’s Daughter” and “Field Guide to the End of the World,” winner of the Moon City Press Book Prize.
Her work has been featured on NPR’s The Writer’s Almanac, Verse Daily and in The Year’s Best Fantasy and Horror.
Her poems have appeared in The American Poetry Review, The Iowa Review and Prairie Schooner.
A suggested donation for the reading is $3 to $5.
All proceeds will support the Northwind Arts Center, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that sponsors visual, musical and literary art events and education on the Olympic Peninsula.

Re-enactor in PA
PORT ANGELES — Historical re-enactor Tim Dybedal will present a program at the Sons of Norway Lodge, 131 W. Fifth St., at 7 p.m. Monday, Nov. 14.
Dybedal’s program will be about Norse Viking equestrian culture and replicas of the 10th-century weaponry, equestrian outfitting and garments.
This event is open to the public, and refreshments will be available.
