NEWS BRIEFS: Port Angeles church school sets fundraiser; donations are sought … and other items

PORT ANGELES — Holy Trinity Lutheran Church’s preschool will hold its annual rummage sale fundraiser Friday and Saturday, and donations for the event are being accepted now.

The sale runs from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. both days in the church’s Fellowship Hall, 301 E. Lopez St.

The preschool is accepting donations of slightly used items from the public through Thursday.

Large furniture or electronics will not be accepted.

In addition to the rummage sale, the church will hold a bake sale to support the preschool.

Transportation talk

PORT TOWNSEND — Quimper Unitarian Universalist Fellowship will host “Community Values and Transportation — a Public Forum” on Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The event at 2333 San Juan Ave. is sponsored by Local 20/20’s Transportation Lab.

The discussion aims to raise citizens’ awareness of the relationship between transportation and community values, according to a press release.

The evening will start with presentations by seven panelists: Evan Ross, owner of Cycle Portland; Sara Doyle of the North Olympic Salmon Coalition; David Engle, former superintendent of Port Townsend School District; Tim Caldwell, former president of the local chamber of commerce; Vern Garrison, general contractor and former city councilor; and Jack McCreary, disability activist.

After the panelists, community members can add ideas, questions or concerns.

Participants can also write down questions or ideas and turn them in at the end of the forum.

Transportation Lab’s next event will also be announced at the forum.
