Field carrier operations start today
COUPEVILLE — There will be field carrier landing practice operations for aircraft stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island at the outlying field in Coupeville today through Saturday.
Today, operations are scheduled from evening into the night.
On Wednesday, operations are from mid-day to late afternoon.
The schedule is subject to change to meet mission requirements.

Monitoring crabs
PORT ANGELES — A speaker series, “Monitoring the Invasive Green Crab,” will take place at The Landing mall, 115 E. Railroad Ave., Room 205, from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today.
Emily Grason of Washington Sea Grant will talk about the history and ecology of the green crab invasion and how to help protect local shorelines.
Admission is a suggested donation of $5; the event is free for volunteers and members of the Feiro Marine Life Center.

Audubon photos
SEQUIM — The Olympic Peninsula Audubon Society (OPAS) will meet for its annual “Photo Night” at 7 p.m. Wednesday.
The event is at the Dungeness River Audubon Center at Railroad Bridge Park, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road.
Dow Lambert will host the annual event.
Members and nonmembers have submitted their bird photos to be shared with fellow bird lovers.
The photographers will say a few words about each photo to include the identity, location and time of year, plus any unique behaviors.
This is not a contest, and the photos will not be judged or critiqued.
The program is free and open to the public.
