NEWS BRIEFS — Poetry lecture Thursday . . . and other items

PORT ANGELES — Bridging cultures with poetry will be the topic of Peninsula College’s Studium Generale program at 12:35 p.m. Thursday.

Peninsula College English instructors Kate Reavey and Matt Teorey, along with six of their students, will speak in the college’s Little Theater.

The presentation is an outgrowth of a new course Reavey and Teorey taught during the 2013 spring quarter, “Vision, Action and Practice: The Promise of Democracy in the United States.”

Water film, lecture

PORT ANGELES — A free water education workshop and movie screening will be held at the Natural Healing Clinic, 162 S. Barr Road, from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Thursday.

The film, “The Keys to Brain Health by Dr. Corinne Allen,” focuses on the power of brain health and water.

The workshop discusses Japanese Kangen water and the research about its healing aspects.

Square dance set

CHIMACUM — Tim Jenkins of Wisconsin will call a square dance at the Chimacum Grange, 9572 Rhody Drive, from 7:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday.

The Rose Street Ramblers will perform.

All dances will be taught.
