PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Medical Center Board of Commissioners will have its regularly scheduled meeting Wednesday.
The meeting, set for 12:30 p.m. in Linkletter Hall at Olympic Medical Center, 939 Caroline St., will include recognition of three employees, according to the meeting agenda.
The board also plans to hear an update on physician employment agreements from Chief Physician Officer Dr. Joshua Jones.
The meeting will conclude with an executive session to discuss the performance of a public employee.
Prevention classes
PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson Healthcare recently announced several programs for patients with chronic medical conditions.
The conditions addressed include type 2 diabetes prevention, Parkinson’s disease and chronic low back pain.
Jefferson Healthcare will host a class on type 2 diabetes prevention from 3:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. today.
The free class will be held the Dirksen conference room on the first floor of the medical center, 834 Sheridan St.
Certified diabetic educator Jennifer Newell will discuss how to lower risk for and delay or prevent type 2 diabetes.
Following the class, Chef Arran Stark will present a demonstration in the cafe on simple, fun and healthful cooking.
Jefferson Healthcare will also host a weekly Dance for Parkinson’s class from 1:15 p.m. to 2:45 p.m. Thursdays starting this week.
The classes will be held at the Wellness Center in the QFC Plaza, 1230 Sheridan St.
The classes are based on principles and approaches that have been found to be beneficial to people with Parkinson’s disease.
Classes are $5 per visit.

Shauna Keeley will lead the eight week Exercise to Beat Back Pain class sponsored by Jefferson Healthcare.
Classes will be held from 4:15 p.m. to 5:15 p.m. Mondays and Wednesdays from Feb. 25 through April 17.
The classes will be held at the Wellness Center in the QFC Plaza, 1230 Sheridan St.
Keeley, a licensed physical therapist will draw from the schools of yoga and pilates to work toward dynamic core stabilization and to teach posture and body mechanics.
Classes are $5 per visit.

Applicants sought
PORT ANGELES — The city of Port Angeles is seeking applicants to fill a vacancy on the Parks, Recreation and Beautification Commission.
The commission advises the Parks and Recreation director and assists in resolving complaints arising from departmental programs or facilities.
The volunteer commissioners serve four-year terms.
The commission meets at 6 p.m. the third Thursday of each month in the City Council chambers.
