PORT TOWNSEND — The Peninsula Trails Coalition will host an open house today for a discussion with Alta Planning + Design and Jefferson County on the Eaglemount segment of the Olympic Discovery Trail.
The open house will start at 5:30 p.m. at the Port Townsend Community Center, 620 Tyler St, according to a news release.
Alta will introduce its route-finding and feasibility study on the Eaglemount segment, which is from Four Corners to Discovery Bay.
The open house will be followed by a board meeting at 6:30 p.m.
Open houses for teacher certification to be held
PORT ANGELES — Two open houses about obtaining a teacher certification will be held Thursdays, March 22, and Tuesday, March 27.
Those interested — specifically paraeducators, school district employees, substitutes, college degree holders — are invited to the March 27 open house at the Sequim High School Cafeteria, 601 N. Sequim Ave.
The event is free and open to the public.
Between 4 p.m. and 5:30 p.m. that day, representatives from colleges and universities will be available to answer questions about — but not limited to — the various options to achieve a certification, and funding resources.
Event organizers advise those interested in enrolling in a certification program to contact their respective district to determine the district’s partnership in the enrollee’s certification process.
The March 22 event will be held from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. at Olympic Education District No. 114 (Rooms 202-204), 105 National Ave. N., Bremerton.

Fundraiser prep
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Farmers Market will hold its spring treasure sale Saturday, March 24 from 8 p.m. to4 p.m.
The sale will be in the former Olympic Skate Center at 707 S. Chase St.
To prepare for the event, the market is asking the public for donations of items to sell.
Donations can be placed at select times at the skate center from Sunday, March 11 to Friday, March 23.
Drop-off times are Sundays, March 11 and 18, and Saturday, March 17 from noon to 4 p.m.; and Mondays, Wednesdaysand Fridays from Monday, March 12 to Friday, March 23 from 4 p.m. to 6 p.m.
Used electronics or mattresses will not be accepted, event organizers said.
Proceeds from the sale will benefit the farmers market.
