NEWS BRIEFS: North Olympic Library System board to eye budget approval today in Port Angeles . . . and other items

PORT ANGELES — The North Olympic Library System board will consider approval of a capital budget for 2016 when it meets today.

The board will meet at 5:30 p.m. at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.

The capital improvement budget includes $334,400 for improvements.

The board also will hear a presentation on an assessment of the Port Angeles facilities.

The North Olympic Library System oversees public libraries in Port Angeles, Sequim, Forks and Clallam Bay.

PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles School Board will consider several policies when it meets today.

The meeting will be at 7 p.m. at Roosevelt Elementary School, 106 Monroe Road.

It will be preceded by an executive session at 6:30 p.m. to consider employment or dismissal of personnel, to review the performance of a public employee, to consult with legal counsel, to consider the position to be taken in collective bargaining or to consider acquisition or sale of real estate.

The board also will consider accepting the resignation of Michael Herzberg from his position as principal of Dry Creek Elementary School, effective June 30.

Among policies to be considered are those concerning fundraising activities involving students, a student representative to the board and job-sharing for staff members.

The board also will consider approval of social studies instructional materials for the sixth grade and a college and career readiness resolution.
