NEWS BRIEFS — Minor injuries reported after wreck on U.S. Highway 101 west of Sequim . . . and other items

SEQUIM — A 66-year-old woman was transported to Olympic Medical Center with minor injuries after a two-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 101 at Taylor Cutoff Road west of Sequim on Thursday morning, according to Clallam County Fire District No. 3.

Patrick Young, spokesman for the department, said paramedics were called to the wreck at about 10 a.m. Thursday.

It involved a newer-model Ford Mustang and an older-model pickup truck.

“The Mustang had pretty significant damage to the front end, and the pickup truck had minor damage to the passenger-side rear,” Young said.

The man driving the truck was not injured, Young said, while the woman in the Mustang was taken by ambulance to Olympic Medical Center with minor injuries.

Young could not give the names of either person involved due to patient privacy laws.

Calls to the State Patrol about the wreck were not immediately returned.

The wreck blocked the eastbound lane of Highway 101 for about 20 minutes, according to the state Department of Transportation.
