NEWS BRIEFS: Log truck blocks part of U.S. Highway 112 after rollover wreck … and other items

PORT ANGELES — A rollover wreck involving a log truck blocked part of state Highway 112 west of Joyce for much of Monday morning.

State Patrol Trooper Chelsea Hodgson said on Twitter that the fully loaded truck crashed at milepost 33.6, about 30 miles west of Port Angeles.

The wreck blocked the westbound lane.

The driver and a dog, Lulu, were uninjured, she said.

The state Department of Transportation reported the wreck at 8:46 a.m. and that the road was clear by 12:37 p.m.

Orientations set

Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County will hold an orientation session for potential volunteers from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Friday at 810 S. Albert St.

Another session will be offered in Sequim from 11 a.m. to noon Thursday, March 7.

Volunteers interested in attending the Sequim session should call 360-775-7806 for the location.

The hospice organization has a variety of volunteer opportunities available.

Retirement party slated for Friday

PORT ANGELES — Matt Elwood will host a retirement party for Craig Brown from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m. Friday.

The party will be held at Elwood’s Allstate Insurance agency, 707 E. Front St.

Brown is retiring after 38 years with Allstate Insurance.

The public is invited to stop by for cake and refreshments.

New fitness studio

SEQUIM — Kevin Pedrey recently announced the opening of a new movement and massage therapy studio in Sequim.

The studio is located at 720 E. Washington St., unit No. 108.

According to a press release, Pedrey is a personal trainer, massage therapist and the former owner of the Sequim Gym.

Pedrey been teaching classes in both strength and self-care since 2014.

The new studio will offer programs in pain management, movement and injury screening, and self-care education.
