NEWS BRIEFS: Library week set for next week in Port Townsend … and other items

PORT TOWNSEND — Mayor Deborah Stinson has proclaimed Oct. 21-27 to be “Friends of the Library Week.”

Stinson urges everyone to visit the Friends of the Library table at the Port Townsend Library, 1220 Lawrence St., to learn more about their work.

The Friends of the Port Townsend Library has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for library programs since it was incorporated in 1978, according to a press release.

More than 300 Friends members donate annually to the organization, and nearly 90 of them actively volunteer to help with fundraising efforts, including three book and media sales each year.

For more information, visit the Port Townsend Public Library or visit www.ptpubliclibrary.org/SupportYourLibrary/FriendsoftheLibrary.html.
