PORT TOWNSEND — Mayor Deborah Stinson has proclaimed Oct. 21-27 to be “Friends of the Library Week.”
Stinson urges everyone to visit the Friends of the Library table at the Port Townsend Library, 1220 Lawrence St., to learn more about their work.
The Friends of the Port Townsend Library has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for library programs since it was incorporated in 1978, according to a press release.
More than 300 Friends members donate annually to the organization, and nearly 90 of them actively volunteer to help with fundraising efforts, including three book and media sales each year.

Nominees sought
PORT TOWNSEND — The American Association of University Women (AAUW) is seeking nominees for its annual Woman of Excellence Award.
The award recognizes an individual who has enriched the community through paid or volunteer work in Jefferson County.
The award will be presented at the December AAUW PT Holiday Event.
Nominations must include the nomination form, plus one to three letters of support.

Quilling class
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Friends of the Library will sponsor a free workshop on quilling from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 27.
The workshop will be held at the Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
Quillers use strips of paper that are rolled, shaped and glued together to create decorative designs.
Carie Metcalf will help adult students to complete a fall-themed quilling project.
Starter supplies and a quilling tool will be provided.
