PORT TOWNSEND — The Ladies’ Chamber Orchestra and Benevolence Society will hold their first concert at First Baptist Church, 1202 Lawrence St., at 4 p.m. today.
Most of the music performed will be from the Baroque period but will include Renaissance, Celtic and Romantic pieces.
The first performance will benefit Dove House Advocacy Services
Future concerts also will raise funds for various local organizations.
The members play an array of instruments including harpsichord, harp, piano, cellos, viola, violins, recorders and krumhorn.
Admission is free, though donations are encouraged.
CERT training
JOYCE — The Joyce Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) will hold a training session at the Crescent Grange, 50870 state Highway 112, at 6:30 p.m. Monday.
The CERT program educates people about disaster preparedness and offers training in basic disaster response skills, such as fire safety, light search and rescue, team organization and disaster medical operations.
Future meetings will be June 6, July 11 and Aug. 1.
The training is free and open to the public.

Grief support
PORT ANGELES — Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County will offer a six-week grief support group series at the Hospice House, 540 E. Eighth St., from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Mondays, May 9 to June 13.
The series is free and open to the public.
Registration is required, since group size will be limited.
The hospice provides free services to terminally ill patients and their families.

Student’s art on display at college
PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College student Brianna Miles currently has eight paintings titled “Inhabiting the Idiom” on display on the third floor of Peninsula College’s Maier Hall, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd., until Friday, May 13.
“Often, idioms will be used to describe a specific trait of a person, so I kept that throughout the series,” she says.
Miles completed PC’s advanced painting in last year’s winter quarter.
The exhibition is free and open to the public.

Flight operations
COUPEVILLE — There will be field carrier landing practice operations for aircraft stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island at the outlying field Wednesday and Thursday.
Operations are scheduled from mid- to late afternoon.
The schedule is subject to change to meet mission requirements.

Fire testing orientations set this week
PORT TOWNSEND — East Jefferson Fire-Rescue will hold tests Saturday, June 4, for those interested in volunteering.
The test will include a written exam, physical agility test and interview.
The fire department plans to host two orientation programs at the Chimacum Fire Station, 9193 Rhody Drive, on Wednesday and at the Uptown Fire Station, 701 Harrison St., Port Townsend, on Thursday.
Both programs will begin at 6 p.m. and last about an hour.
In-district residency is not required. Completed applications are due in the EJFR administrative offices, 24 Seton Road, by Friday, May 13.
For candidates who wish to prepare for the agility exam, two practice tests will also be held in late May and early June. Exact dates have yet to be determined.
Volunteers can fulfill a variety of roles with the department including station maintenance, public education, tender operations and EMT response.

SEQUIM — Shipley Center will hold its eighth annual open house to celebrate National Older Americans Month at the center, 921 E. Hammond St., from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday, May 10.

SEQUIM — The Sequim Rotary Club, sponsor of the Irrigation Festival Parade, needs volunteers with four-passenger convertibles for the Sequim Irrigation Parade on Saturday, May 14.
