PORT ANGELES — Here is this week’s schedule for the 1:05 p.m. to
2 p.m. local talk show segment on KONP radio, at 1450 AM, 101.7 FM and www.konp.com on the internet outside the Port Angeles area.
Station General Manager Todd Ortloff hosts the Monday through Thursday segments.
This week’s scheduled lineup:
• Today: Kelsey Sholund, Jonathon Motts, Mira Nelson and Kristen Puhl, resident doctors with the Port Angeles Training Track Family Medicine Residency program, will be the featured speakers.
Ed Chadd, program coordinator for Streamkeepers of Clallam County, will appear with intern Ashley Baltrusitis to discuss upcoming training, some projects and partnerships that are taking place.
• Tuesday: Clallam 2 Fire-Rescue Fire Chief Sam Phillips and Deputy Chief Jake Patterson will discuss the Thirty Mile Fire Anniversary.
• Wednesday: Raymond Martinez, exercise physiologist and wellness program coordinator for Olympic Medical Center, will speak.
• Thursday: To be announced.
Permits available
PORT ANGELES — Seven Lakes Basin backpacking permits for today through July 20 are available in person beginning the day before the trip.
Seven Lakes Basin is a quota area and permits will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis for backpacking trips during this time frame, said Penny Wagner, Olympic National Park spokesperson.
Advance reservation requests will not be accepted for these dates.
Permits can be obtained at four locations:
• Port Angeles Wilderness Information Center, 3002 Mount Angeles Road, Port Angeles; open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sunday through Thursday and from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
• Mora Wilderness Information Center, 3283 Mora Road, Forks; open from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
• Hoodsport Wilderness Information Center, 150 N. Cushman Road, Hoodsport; open 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Friday through Sunday.
• Quinault (South Shore) Wilderness Information Center, Quinault office of the U.S. Forest Service Pacific Ranger District, 353 South Shore Road, Quinault; open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. daily.
Wilderness Permit fees are $8 per person per night for individuals 16 or older. Annual Wilderness Passes are $45 per person.

Drink and Draw
PORT ANGELES — Drink and Draw, a free event for all ages, is planned at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. at the Loom in Studio Bob, upstairs at 118½ E. Front St. A model will pose for three 20-minute sessions.
Beer, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase. Drawing supplies are available or bring your own.
Drink and Draw meets each month the Thursday before Port Angeles Art Walk the second weekend of the month.
Registration for disabled voters slated
The North Olympic Library System will recognize National Disability Voter Registration Week with consecutive voter registration events at three of its branches.
From Monday, July 16-18, the League of Women Voters will provide on-site voter registration on:
• Monday, July 16 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Forks Library, 171 S. Forks Ave.
• Tuesday, July 17 from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
• Wednesday, July 18 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
The American Association of People with Disabilities and EveryLibrary sponsor the event. National Disability Voter Registration Week is July 16-20.
REV UP stands for “Register! Educate! Vote! Use your Power!” according to a news release.
The REV UP campaign coordinates the week annually in July to increase the political power of people with disabilities while also engaging candidates and the media to recognize the disability community, according to the release.
