SEQUIM — “What is Applied Kinesiology?,” a free health talk, will take place at Via Vita Chiropractic & Wellness, 128 W. Bell St., at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday.
Dr. Ryan Iskenderian, a chiropractic applied kinesiologist, will explain applied kinesiology and how it can help individuals and families reach health goals.
Applied kinesiology is a diagnostic technique that can be used to assess the structural, chemical and emotional systems of the body through manual muscle testing, according to a news release.

MAC info meeting
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles School District Multi-Age Community teachers will hold the program’s annual public information meeting Thursday from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Franklin Elementary School library, 2505 S. Washington St.
The program, commonly known as the MAC program, is based at Franklin, but enrollment is open to all Port Angeles students in first through fifth grades via a placement request process.
Teachers will discuss the history of the program, philosophy of multi-age education, enrichment clusters and placement procedures for the 2015-16 school year.

Women’s auto clinic
PORT HADLOCK — A free auto clinic for women, “Women on Wheels,” will take place at Circle & Square Auto Care, 10953 Rhody Drive, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday.
This hands-on workshop will teach participants to change a tire, check tire pressure/tread, check fluid levels and change fuses, plus safety procedures to follow if stranded on the side of the road.
A free Safety Auto Kit provided by Westbay/Napa and a free Women on Wheels T-shirt will be given to all participants.

Soil microbes topic of plant talk Thursday
PORT ANGELES — Pam Larsen will discuss how microbes in the soil promote healthy plant growth at noon Thursday.
The presentation, “The Underground Social Life of Plants,” will be in the county commissioners’ meeting room of the Clallam County Courthouse, 223 E. Fourth St.,
It is part of the “Green Thumb Gardening Tips” brown-bag educational series sponsored by the Clallam County WSU Master Gardeners.
Larson will explain how plants invite plant-benevolent soil bacteria and fungi to partner with them and form beneficial relationships.
The “Green Thumb Gardening Tips” series is presented the second and fourth Thursday of the month is free and open to the public.

SEQUIM — Sequim Arts will host a demonstration of “Dog Portraits as Magazine Covers” in St. Luke’s Episcopal Church’s parish hall, 525 N. Fifth Ave., starting at 9:30 a.m. Thursday.
