PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson Museum of Art & History changed its hours Friday.
The museum at 540 Water St., which is operated by the Jefferson County Historical Society, will be open from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on weekends only through January and February. It also will be open for Saturday Art Walks.
It had been open daily.
Garden club plans meeting
SEQUIM — The Pioneer Park Clubhouse, 387 E. Washington St., will host the Sequim Prairie Garden Club from 10:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. Monday.
The group will have a free talk by Sue Milliken and Kelly Dodson on their search for international plant specimens that will grow well in the Northwest.
The Port Townsend gardeners and nursery owners recently visited China and will speak about their adventures there.

Lap quilts done
PORT ANGELES — With over 2,000 hours of volunteer work, 60 lap quilts have been completed and given to veterans throughout Clallam County.
Many of the quilts were delivered to homebound veterans, as well as to those in convalescent homes, distributed through the Veterans Center of Clallam County.
The Port Angeles Senior & Community Center hosted the volunteer group in the fall, but the group will now relocate and do their sewing at the Veterans Center, 2621 S. Francis St., every Tuesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m., starting this Tuesday.

Flight operations
COUPEVILLE — Field carrier landing practice operations for aircraft stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island are scheduled at the outlying field in Coupeville.
On Tuesday and Thursday, Jan. 5 and 7, training at the field in Coupeville is scheduled later in the evening.
Training also is scheduled from early to midafternoon Friday, Jan. 8.
Flight training operations are subject to change due to weather, operational and/or training requirements.

Diabetes program
PORT ANGELES — The Olympic Peninsula YMCA, 302 S. Francis St., will host a diabetes awareness program in the foyer from 8 a.m. to noon Wednesday.
Vicki Everrett, RD, CDE, will answer questions about nutrition, weight loss, exercise and blood sugar screening for diabetes prevention.

Bees, biodiversity
PORT TOWNSEND — In the sanctuary hall of Quimper Unitarian Fellowship, 2333 San Juan Ave., the Jefferson Land Trust Natural History Society will have a presentation on “Bees and Biodiversity” at 7 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 7.
Jerry Freilich, former director of the North Coast and Cascades Science Learning Network, has researched insect biodiversity since 1996 and recently carried out a project to find and identify as many bee species as possible in Olympic National Park.
An entomologist by training, Freilich will explain why bees are so difficult to study.
