PORT TOWNSEND — An ad hoc subcommittee consisting of the chair and vice chair of the Jefferson County Parks and Recreation Advisory Board will hold a meeting today from 9:15 a.m. to 11 a.m. at the Jefferson County Public Works office, 623 Sheridan St.
The agenda will finalize the advisory’s board’s 2017 work plan and Board of County Commissioners presentation as well an item on the Capital Improvement Program.
This is an open public meeting.

Unity service
PORT ANGELES — This Sunday, Unity in the Olympics’ 10:30 a.m. worship service will feature the Rev. Eva McGinnis.
Her lesson is “Good News for the New Year.”
According to a news release: “The ‘Good News for the New Year’ is that love has chosen you to be here at this time.
“Dare to make this the day to break old limiting habits and learn to make new agreements with yourself that will change your perspectives and accept that love has chosen you.”
McGinnis is a metaphysical minister with backgrounds in teaching, writing and counseling with various educational and nonprofit settings.
A time for silent meditation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
Child care is available during the service.
New board members for foundation
PORT TOWNSEND — The Hospice Foundation for Jefferson Healthcare welcomes four new members to the board of directors.
Joining the board for three-year terms are Barbara Berthiaume, Bob Carter, Anna DuPen and Karen Robison.
Berthiaume lives in Port Ludlow and has experience designing and conducting workshops for schools, nonprofits and international companies on transition.
She has a master’s degree in social work and had a private counseling practice in London, specializing in transition and trauma.
Carter is a lifelong resident of Port Townsend and was an insurance agent for 38 years before retiring.
He is a 35-year member of Kiwanis, past board member of Port Townsend chamber and member of Main Street, Key City Public Theatre and the Economic Development Corp.
DuPen moved to the Coyle Peninsula last year from Kitsap County after a 30-year career in nursing.
Most recently, she was a palliative care nurse practitioner at the University of Washington Medical Center, involved in clinical care, staff education and quality improvement activities.
Robison assists individuals in writing their life stories as legacies for their families.
She also served as executive director of a complementary health care facility for 12 years before moving to Port Townsend.
The Hospice Foundation for Jefferson Healthcare educates communities about values and benefits of hospice services while raising funds in support of end-of-life services provided through Jefferson Healthcare Hospice, according to a news release.

Open house
SEQUIM — A free open house for Black Dragon tai chi will be held Wednesday from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Bodhi Tree Yoga studio, 271 Blakely Blvd.
Those who are interested can meet Black Dragon teacher Dianne L. Knox, watch a demo of tai chi yang style (slow set) and receive a pamphlet detailing course intentions, goals, house rules, attire and schedule.
