PORT TOWNSEND — Jefferson County commissioners will meet to discuss and take potential action on a settlement offer for a public records claim today at 1:45 p.m.
The special meeting will be held at the Jefferson County Courthouse in the commissioners’ chambers at 1820 Jefferson St.
The public records claim was submitted April 26 by Greg Overstreet on behalf of Joseph D’Amico, according to a notice issued Monday.
An executive session with three county officials — the chief civil deputy prosecuting attorney, the Central Services director and the county administrator — regarding potential litigation will also take place during the meeting.

PORT TOWNSEND — Port of Port Townsend commissioners will review in executive session the performance of a public employee when they meet at 1 p.m. Wednesday.
In addition, commissioners will hold two attorney interviews during a regular session, according to a notice issued Monday.
The meeting will be at the port commission building, 333 Benedict St.
Grant deadline
The Beta Nu Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma Society International has announced Tuesday, May 15 as the application deadline for its Community Education Grants.

Grants are awarded to nonprofit agencies for educational projects serving the Sequim and Port Angeles school districts.
Projects must be carried out under the direction of a qualified educator.
Qualifying projects might include opportunities for students or participants to learn new information, skills, practices, or strengthen previous knowledge or skills.
Grants will be awarded on a one-time basis, but consideration will be given to reoccurring projects.

Grief support
PORT ANGELES — Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County will begin a grief support group series on Wednesday, May 23.
The group is free and requires preregistration. To register, call the hospice’s office at 360-452-1511.
The group will be held for eight consecutive Wednesdays from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at Hospice House, 810 S. Albert St.
Midge James will serve as the group’s facilitator.
The support groups aim to offer a safe, peaceful, supportive environment where participants can share their feelings and experiences, gain a clearer understanding of the grieving process, connect with others who are grieving and develop coping strategies and skills for managing the emotional pain of loss, according to the release.
