PORT ANGELES — Peninsula College’s Vocal Harmony will perform under the direction of Elaine Gardner Morales at 7 p.m. Thursday.
The free concert will be at Maier Performance Hall on the Port Angeles Peninsula College campus at 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
Joining the group on stage will be Vocal Unlimited from Port Angeles High School, under the direction of Jolene Gailey, and two-time Grammy nominee Vince Redhouse on jazz flute and saxophone.
The two schools decided to team up for a performance when both were forced to cancel their plans to attend the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival in
February due to winter weather.
Redhouse will perform several jazz pieces and a few Native American selections on the flute, which received Grammy nominations on his previous LP’s.
Both school groups will perform the programs intended for Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, as well as solo competition selections.
College soloists are Robbin Eaves of Joyce; Tiara Delatorre, Brandy Wilkins, Andrea Saxe and Brad Alemeo of Port Angeles; Chris Burt and Alondra Franco of Sequim; and Christina Kahout of Forks.
Accompanying the group will be Al Harris on piano, Bonnie Booth on conga drums and Ted Enderle on bass.

Erotic art show
PORT ANGELES — Studio Bob is seeking artists from amateur to professional for a Bring Your Own Art event with an erotic theme.
This event was planned for February, but had to be postponed until March due to weather.
Opening night for the show at Studio Bob (upstairs) at 118 ½ E Front St., is Saturday from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. Hours on Sunday will be from noon to 3 p.m.
Art for the show can be dropped off at Studio Bob between 5 p.m. and 9 p.m. Thursday and between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. Friday.
Art submitted must be done by the artist or a family member.
The cost to show art is $5 per piece with no limit on the amount of art.
No commission will be charged if art sells during the show, which will run through the month of March.

COUPEVILLE — There will be field carrier landing practice operations for aircraft stationed at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island Complex for the week of March 4-10.
There will be landing practice at the Outlying Landing Field in Coupeville late morning to afternoon, then evening to night Monday.

Short films sought
FORKS — Washington Sea Grant is seeking short films for its Sixth River and Ocean Film Festival.
The annual film festival will begin Saturday,
April 20, in conjunction with the Forks RainFest and the Washington Coast Cleanup.
According to a press release entries may be submitted on DVD or in an electronic format and should be accompanied by the title of the film, the names of its director
and its producer and a brief description of the film.
The description should be 250 words or less and should describe the entry, its running time, year produced and explain its relevance to the river or ocean ecosystems of the West End.
Films must be less than 20 minutes in length, including credits. Standalone segments of longer works are also welcome.

Elwha Bridge race
PORT ANGELES — The Port Angeles Marathon Association recently announced that the Elwha Bridge 5K/10K Race raised $1,722 for two local charities.
According to a press release, the race on
Feb. 2, sold out to 400 onsite participants with another 106 virtual racers.
Sponsored by the Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe, the race raised $972 for the Olympic Discovery Trail and $800 for Orchestra
Parents United for Students.
The orchestra parents group is raising funds to send the Port Angeles
High School Orchestra to play at Carnegie Hall in 2021.
The Elwha Bridge race is the first event in the inaugural Run the
Peninsula Series co-sponsored by the Peninsula Daily News and the Sequim Gazette.
Each race in the series will be run over a different section of the Olympic Discovery Trail.

Workshop is scheduled
PORT ANGELES — Kevin Pedrey will be presenting a workshop on hip mobilization exercises from 6:15 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Tuesday, March 12.
The workshop will be held in Halberg Chiropractic, 228 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
Pedrey is a licensed massage therapist, certified personal trainer and the owner of Northwest Fitness, LLC.
Licensed massage therapists will earn two continuing education credits by attending the workshop.
A donation of $10 is requested from attendees.

OMC team honored
PORT ANGELES — Olympic Medical Center announced that members of a process improvement team were honored at a recent meeting of its board of commissioners.
According to a press release, Lorraine Wall, chief nursing officer, praised the work done by the team.
The multidisciplinary team developed and tested a plan to ensure that the hospital can mobilize the staff needed to perform an emergency Cesarean section within 30 minutes, regardless of the time of day.
The team was formed to meet a new guideline from the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists.
The team included Heidi Mattern, operating room; Ellen Adams, operating room; Joellyn Jensen, post-anesthesia care unit; Sandra McGoldrick-Kendal, obstetrics; Tim Frymyer, respiratory therapy and Paula Wahl, organizational performance improvement coordinator.
Engines donated
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles High School recently announced the donation of 72 small gasoline engines by the American Honda Motor Co.
According to a press release, PAHS Automotive Technology would like to thank the American Honda Motor Co. along with its employees Carmen Cantrall, Mark McGregory and Michael Logan for the donation.
The engines will be used by students in “Intro to Auto Tech” classes.
