NEWS BRIEFS: Hood Canal Bridge to close for training … and other items

SHINE — The Hood Canal Bridge will have a three-hour total closure for annual training later this month.

The state Department of Transportation announced Monday that the bridge on state Highway 104 will be closed from 10 p.m. Jan. 24 until 1 a.m. Jan. 25.

The training prepares bridge maintenance crews for specific bridge activities related to winter storms, according to a press release.

The training is conducted at night when traffic volumes are lighter.

Due to the nature of the training, the bridge will be closed to all traffic for the entire three hours. The Department of Transportation will work with emergency responders to provide access across the bridge when possible.
