SHINE — One-hour closures of the Hood Canal Bridge are planned between 11:59 tonight and 4 a.m. Saturday.
The bridge will close several times during this period, as it did during the same hours Thursday and early this morning, which might have impacted delivery of today’s PDN newspapers.
Closures are to allow work on the drawspan, the state Department of Transportation said.
The PDN is printed in Everett and brought back over the bridge in the early morning hours.
Crews working for the state Department of Transportation will replace mechanical components of the drawspan in a $5.2 million project awarded to Northbank Civil and Marine Inc. in October.
To help traffic move through the area, the bridge will reopen to traffic for at least 30 minutes between closures.
Crews will replace the gear boxes and hydraulic hoses and adjust and align the guide rollers that are responsible for operating the drawspan for marine traffic.
Unity speaker gets to ‘Heart of the Matter’
PORT ANGELES — Unity in the Olympics’ 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service guest speaker will be Candia Sanders.
The lesson is titled “The Heart of the Matter.”
According to a news release: “Let us dialogue on the importance of being heart centered in a world that literally shouts the opposite and dive into what it means to see through the perspective of the heart, melting away the layers that cloud our loving vision.”
Candia Sanders is an international medical intuitive high-frequency energy healer and author of the books “Soul Rays” and “The Adventures of Jack Starr and His Brother Skye.”
A time for silent meditation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
