PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Historical Society’s garage sale, held at the Lincoln School site on the corner of Eighth and C streets in Port Angeles, begins with a members-only night from 4 to 6 tonight.
Memberships may be purchased up to the opening of the afternoon’s event. Dues are $25 for senior citizens, $30 for an individual and $35 for a family.
Regular sale days will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
Half-price day will be Friday, Aug. 31, and Buck-a-Bag day is Saturday, Sept. 1; hours for the second weekend also will be from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Shelves are full of household goods, books, quilting material, sewing machines, tools, clothing, holiday decorations, craft materials, dolls, jewelry, puzzles and games, gardening items, and collectibles and antiques.
All proceeds from the sale benefit the society’s mission to preserve and share local history.

Womanfest retreat
PORT ANGELES — Registration is now open for Womanfest’s fall retreat set for Friday afternoon, Sept. 21 through Sunday afternoon, Sept. 23.
The retreat, held annually for 35 years at Camp David Jr. — the Clallam County park on the north shore of Lake Crescent — includes meals cooked in the lakeside lodge, crafts, walks on nearby trails, swimming, canoeing and other relaxing activities the women choose.
Registration deadline is Sept. 12. Cost is $110 and includes all meals, snacks and two nights’ accommodations in the rustic Camp David’s cabins.
