PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson Museum of Art & History is seeking heirloom quilts for possible inclusion in a quilt exhibit set to open in September.
“We’re sure there are some wonderful quilts out there, and we’d like to see them,” said Becky Shurmann, collections manager.
“We would be very excited to find quilts that belong to families who have a long history in Jefferson County, although we’re not limiting ourselves to those criteria.”
The museum at 540 Water St. is a branch of the Jefferson County Historical Society.
Those with antique quilts that have historical, aesthetic or technical virtues are urged to phone Schurmann at 360-301-5556.
Roads to open
OLYMPIC NATIONAL FOREST — Seven gates will be reopened May 1 to allow motorized use of roads that have been closed since Oct. 1.
The affected roads are on the south part of the national forest in the North Fork Skokomish watershed (Road 2451), the South Fork Skokomish watershed (Roads 2354, 2353, 2361) and the Wynoochee watershed (Road 2294, which has two gates, and Road 2270).
The roads will be open until Oct. 1.
They were closed for wildlife benefits and resource protection in agreement with the state Department of Fish and Wildlife, the national forest said in a news release.
Yearly food drive
PORT ANGELES — In celebration of National Occupational Therapy Month in April, Strait Occupational and Hand Therapy will be collecting nonperishable food items and cash donations for the Port Angeles Food Bank.
The business at 708 S. Race St., Suite C, will accept food and cash donations from 8 a.m. to noon and 1:15 p.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays through Fridays.

Free dinner
SEQUIM — A free community dinner will be served at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The meal will include chef Carl’s special meatloaf and gravy, mashed potatoes, vegetables, green salad, dessert and beverages.
Reservations are encouraged to ensure enough food is prepared.
