NEWS BRIEFS: Grief support group meets starting Tuesday in Port Angeles . . . and other items

PORT ANGELES — Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County will offer an eight-week grief support group, “Life After Loss,” this Tuesday through March 15.

The group, which is free and open to anybody who has experienced the death of a loved one, will meet from 2 p.m. to 3:30 p.m. each Tuesday at Hospice House, 540 E. Eighth St.

Registration is required, as group size is limited, so contact facilitator Midge James at 360-797-1006 or midgejames1@gmail.com.

Senior nutrition

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Senior Nutrition Site dinners will be served at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at the Port Angeles Senior & Community Center, 328 E. Seventh St.

A suggested donation is $5 for those who are 60 or older.

People younger than 60 can attend for $8.

Reservations should be made 24 hours in advance to 360-457-8921.

Menus are subject to change.

■ Tuesday: Mushroom barley soup, applesauce, stuffed pork chop, asparagus and cherry crisp.

■ Wednesday: Tossed salad, cabbage roll, steamed rice, carrots and mixed berry Jell-O.

■ Thursday: Green salad, tomato bisque, Polish sausage with bun, sauerkraut and carrot cake.

■ Friday: Carrot salad, meatloaf, mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts with gravy and root beer float.

Franklin fundraiser

PORT ANGELES — Students at Franklin Elementary School are kicking off a fundraiser to raise money for the sixth-grade trip to NatureBridge.

Working together with local fundraising company FarmRaiser, the group will sell produce and other products made locally while learning about the importance and benefits of eating a healthy, local diet.

Supporters of the fundraiser will receive fresh, high-quality products, according to a news release.

Local products being sold in this sale until Friday, Jan. 29, include Betsy’s Pickles, Mt. Townsend cheese, Beechers crackers, Theo Chocolate, Ballard Honey and Cafe Vita Coffee.
