SEQUIM — A free community dinner will be served at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave., at 6 p.m. Thursday.
The meal includes baked ham, beans, vegetables, fruit salad, dessert and a beverage.
The church presents the dinners on the last Thursday of each month.
Reservations are required and can be made by phoning the church between 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. the Monday, Tuesday or Wednesday before the dinner at 360-683-5367 or by emailing dinnerstumc@aol.com.
Guild meeting
SEQUIM — The Sequim-Dungeness Hospital Guild will resume its monthly speaker series and business meetings in the community hall of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, 525 N. Fifth Ave., at 10 a.m. Tuesday.
This month, Chief Dan Orr and Blaine Zechenelly, both of of Clallam County Fire District No. 3, will present information on a plan to survive a Cascadia Subduction Zone quake.
The public is invited to the first portion of the meeting featuring the guest speakers.
Grange awards
SEQUIM — The Sequim Prairie Grange
will have “Booster Night” this Wednesday beginning with a potluck dinner at 6:30 p.m.
State Master Tom Gwinn will attend a presentation of awards to 20 members for their years of grange membership at the grange, 290 Macleay Road.
There will also be a short program of entertainment by Buck Ellard.
Creation conference
PORT TOWNSEND — The Christian Views of Creation Conference will take place at New Life Church, 1636 Hastings Ave., from 5 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday.
According to a news release: “Do science and the Bible agree? How old is the earth? Can Genesis and evolution be reconciled? Three speakers with different perspectives discuss the answers to these and other questions in a safe, non-confrontational environment.”

Community HU Song
SEQUIM — There will be a community HU song gathering in the Sequim Library’s meeting room, 630 N. Sequim Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to noon Sunday.
The event is free and open to the public.
The HU song is an ancient invocation used to open the consciousness to the light and sound of God, resulting in mystical experiences, spiritual insights and states of enlightenment and inner peace, according to a news release.

9/11 Day of Service
PORT ANGELES — Holy Trinity Lutheran Church participated in “God’s Work, our Hand,” a national call to community service by the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America, on Sept. 11, the Day of Service.
Service projects included painting at Healthy Families of Clallam County and yard work at the Port Angeles Food Bank and First Step Family Support Center.
Thrivent Financial provided an Action Team Grant to purchase supplies.
Thirty-one volunteers were involved with more than 75 hours of community service.
