Clothing closet
PORT ANGELES — Caring for Kids is a new community clothing
closet located in Port Angeles.
The clothing closet has jeans, tops, jackets, shoes, socks, underwear, hats, gloves and more for students of all ages and sizes, from kindergarten through 12th grade.
The clothing closet, founded by Jessica Johnson and Jen Riffle, is in the Lincoln Center, 905 W. Ninth St.
The clothing closet is normally only available by appointment, but it will be open from noon to 4 p.m. on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Caring for Kids accepts donations of new and gently used clothes.
According to a press release, the closet currently needs clothing in husky sizes and new underwear.
Donation drop spots can be found in all Port Angeles School District buildings.

Rhody festival
PORT TOWNSEND — The Rhododendron Festival Association recently announced that the theme for its 2019 festival is “The Greatest Rhody.”
The association also released the names of the candidates for the 2019 Rhody Royalty Scholarships.
According to a press release, the candidates are Port Townsend High School sophomore Kaylee Krajewski, Jefferson
Community School sophomore Mary Neville and Port Townsend High School junior Ellienne Thornton.
Applications are open for the Queen’s Court
and junior royalty until Friday, Dec. 21.
The Queen’s Court is open to East Jefferson County seventh- through ninth-grade students; junior royalty is open to first-grade students.
Applications for the court are available at www.rhodyfestival.org, junior royalty applications are available at elementary schools in Port Townsend, Chimacum, Quilcene and Brinnon.
The festival coronation will be held Feb. 9 and the festival will be held May 17-19.
Volunteer service feted
SEQUIM — Susan Molin was presented the fifth annual Westcott Award at the Sequim City Volunteer Appreciation Dinner on Nov. 9.
Molin has volunteered as a concierge at the Sequim Civic Center and has supported the City Arts Advisory Commission by scheduling artists to give presentations at “Art Talk on the Art Walk,” according to a press release.
Molin also has helped with scheduling musicians for the summer Music in the Park concert series and annual Block Party as well as securing sponsors for these events, the release said.
The Westcott Award was named for Emily Westcott in recognition of her tireless commitment to volunteer service within the community, the release said.
Floral shop sold
PORT ANGELES — Linda Moffitt recently sold Angel Crest Gardens to Brandi and Isaac Anderson.
According to a press release, the Andersons will continue to operate the flower fields and nursery at 58424 state Highway 112.
The couple also plans to begin selling table and gift arrangements for Christmas at the farm and in town at 1016 E. First St.

Builder recognized by association
VANCOUVER, Wash. — The Building Industry Association of Washington recently recognized Kevin Russell of Port Angeles as its Builder of the Year.
The award was presented during the association’s board meeting at the Hilton Vancouver Washington on Nov. 14.
Russell is the owner of Kevin Russell Construction in Port Angeles.
He has previously served as president of the North Peninsula Building Association.
According to a press release, the Building Industry Association of Washington represents nearly 8,000 companies in the home building industry.
New manager
PORT ANGELES — Olympic Medical Physicians has promoted Samantha Jacobson to operations manager.
Jacobson has worked for Olympic Medical Physicians (OMP) since 2004, most recently as provider recruiter.
According to a press release, Jacobson will support process improvement and change initiatives throughout OMP’s clinics.
Jacobson recruited 11 new clinicians for OMP last year and assisted Olympic Medical Center to fill 46 staff positions.
