NEWS BRIEFS: Fire delays deliveries of newspapers … and other items

EVERETT — A fire on the Hood Canal Bridge early Wednesday morning was extinguished in about 30 minutes.

Although the highway was cleared at 1:02 a.m., deliveries to some subscribers of the Peninsula Daily News, Sequim Gazette and Forks Forum were delayed.

Some newspaper carriers were not expected to finish deliveries until about noon.

For those who receive newspapers via the postal service, delivery was delayed until today or Friday due to the national day of mourning for the late former President George H.W. Bush.

The papers are printed in Everett and are trucked to the Olympic Peninsula for delivery to homes and newsstands.

For further information, call 360-452-2345 or 800-826-7714.
