PORT ANGELES — Drink and Draw, a free event for all ages, is planned at 7 p.m. Thursday.
Doors will open at 6:30 p.m. at the Loom in Studio Bob, upstairs at 118½ E. Front St.
A model will pose for three 20-minute sessions.
Beer, wine and soft drinks are available for purchase.Drawing supplies are available or bring your own.
Drink and Draw meets each month the Thursday just before Port Angeles Art Walk the second weekend of the month.
United Way events
PORT ANGELES — United Way of Clallam County has a pair of upcoming events to raise funds for the community organization’s annual campaign.
From 4 p.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday, Sergio’s Hacienda & Cantina, 205 E. Eighth St. in Port Angeles, will donate 20 percent of sales made during event hours to United Way.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. Friday, Jan. 26 Coyote BBQ at 201 E. Front St., Port Angeles, will host a hot wing-eating competition with prizes. Coyote BBQ will donate $1 from every pint ordered during event hours to United Way.

United Way of Clallam County is now 80 percent of the way to this year’s $800,000 campaign goal. The organization will collect donations until March 31.
Homebuyers sought
Habitat for Humanity of Clallam County will hold two meetings in Sequim and Port Angeles to start selecting homebuyers for its Maloney Heights subdivision in Port Angeles.
The meetings are free and open to anyone interested in learning about Habitat’s program or obtaining an application.
The Port Angeles meeting will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Monday, Jan. 22, in the Coffey Room of Port Angeles Library, 2210 S. Peabody St.
The Sequim meeting will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 24, at Sequim Meeting Room South in the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
For those who are unable to attend either meeting, applications will be available from Jan. 22 to Saturday, Feb. 10, at the Habitat Humanity Store, 728 E. Front St., Port Angeles. Applications can be picked up during that time Tuesdays through Saturdays from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Caregiver training
FORKS — The Alliance for Child Welfare Excellence will present its “Caregiver Core Training” classes in February.
Those who are interested in becoming foster parents are encouraged to attend the class at the Division of Child & Family Services’ conference room, 421 Fifth Ave.
Event organizers said that walk-ins will be welcome, but encourage those interested to register by Friday, Feb. 9. To register, visit www.allianceforchildwelfare.org. Classes will be held Fridays and Saturdays, Feb. 10, 11, 24, and 25 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m.
The sessions are designed to help attendees understand how the foster care system works, what their role is as a member of the team, how to effectively work with birth families, how caregiving can affect your family. They also cover child development, the impact of trauma, attachment, as well as how to incorporate and honor a child’s culture into your own family.
