PORT ANGELES — The Clallam County Democratic Party will host a live broadcast Wednesday of Bernie Sanders’ speech on his campaign for the 2016 Democratic Party nomination in his presidential bid.
The live video will start at 7:30 p.m. at the party headquarters, 124 W. First St., where doors will open at 6:30 p.m. for refreshments.

Lesson on crocheting bags slated
PORT TOWNSEND — An all-ages free crochet lesson will be offered at the Boiler Room, 711 Water St., from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Participants can learn how to transform plastic bags into “plarn” (plastic yarn) and crochet sleeping mats for the homeless in the community.
Instructors will be on site.
Those who started a mat during the first workshop should bring them in.
Plastic bags also can be donated at the event to help create the mats.
Supplies such as size P crochet hooks and sharp scissors are welcome.
Last year, Trinity donated 17 sleeping mats to COAST (Community Outreach Association Shelter Team) to be distributed to those staying at the Winter Shelter.

PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Senior Nutrition Site dinners will be served at 4 p.m. Tuesday through Friday at the Port Angeles Senior Center, 328 E. Seventh St.
A suggested donation is $5 for those who are 60 or older.
People younger than 60 can attend for $8.

■ Tuesday: Egg drop soup, Oriental chicken, salad and pineapple.
■ Wednesday: Tropical sweet potato salad, Hawaiian burgers and banana pudding.

■ Friday: Spinach salad, spaghetti with meat sauce, green beans, garlic bread and sherbet.
Irrigation talk set
SEQUIM — Learn how irrigation shaped Clallam County, how it is reserved for later use, how drought conditions affect irrigation in the area and more during a free seminar for farmers and land owners at the Dungeness River Audubon Center, 2151 W. Hendrickson Road, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 6.
“The Impact of Irrigation” features Joel Holtrop, executive director of the Clallam Conservation District, and Amanda Cronin, project manager of Washington Water Trust.
The seminar is from 10 a.m. to noon, with a guided tour of Sequim irrigation sites from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m.

Book sale slated
PORT HADLOCK — Friends of the Jefferson County Library will hold a book sale at the library, 620 Cedar Ave., from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
Friends members can get early entry at 9:30 a.m.
This will be a large book sale with DVDs, CDs and children’s books.
