EVERETT — A celebration of life is planned for the late U.S. Rep. Allan Byron Swift at 1 p.m. Saturday.
The ceremony will be held at the Everett Transit Station Weyerhauser Room, 3201 Smith Ave.

Swift died April 20 in Alexandria, Va.
He was 82.
Swift represented the 2nd Congressional District in northwest Washington and was known as a bipartisan collaborator drawn to complex issues.
Community Cafe
PORT ANGELES — Developing the Dream: Helping Families Flourish is the topic of the Community Cafe at 9:30 a.m. today.
The event will be at the Elwha Klallam Heritage Center, 401 E. First St.
“We welcome your voice at the table, in partnerships, to create a community framework that supports youth and families,” according to a flyer for the event.
The event will be hosted by the Olympic Kitsap Peninsula Early Learning Coalition, Prevention Works!, Salish Family Youth Systems Round Table, First Step Family Support Center, Parent to Parent of Clallam County, Lower Elwha Klallam Tribe and Pediatric-Transforming Clinical Practice Initiative.
1998 class reunion
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles High School Roughrider class of 1998’s 20th year reunion will kick off Friday, July 27.
All ’98 Roughrider graduates and their families are invited to attend.
On Friday, members plan to attend the Lefties game at 6:30 p.m.
The party deck is reserved for adults ages 21 and older, with general seating being family-friendly. Tickets are $5.
At 8 p.m., a mixer will be held at Barhop Brewing & Artisan Pizza, 124 W. Railroad Ave. The event is for those older than 21.
On Saturday, July 28, the main reunion event will get underway at the Metta Room, 132 E. Front St.
Tickets can be bought in advance for $30 online at tinyurl.com/yan8nd24 or at the door for $40.
Food will be provided by Turnip the Beet and music will be provided by MissDJC.
On Sunday, July 29, a family-friendly picnic will be held at 11 a.m. at Salt Creek Recreation Area picnic area, 3506 Camp Hayden Road.
Admission is free and those interested are requested to bring their own food.

Nominations sought for community
Nominations are sought by Delta Dental of Washington for Clallam and Jefferson county residents for its Smile Makers program.
Ongoing nominations are accepted and can be placed online by visiting www.tinyurl.com/smile-power.
Nominees for the program must be area community members or organizations that improve their community through volunteerism, kind acts and other good deeds, according to a news release.
If enough nominations are received, Delta will set out on its Smile Power tour for Clallam, Jefferson and Kitsap counties.
The tour — planned for Aug. 27-29 — is subject to change, event organizers said.
Delta representatives visit communities on the tour to reward selected nominees with a personalized surprise on behalf of the organization and the nominator.
Nominators will be notified by Delta if they would like to surprise their nominee.

Local Unity speaker for this Sunday
PORT ANGELES — Unity in the Olympics’ 10:30 a.m. Sunday service speaker will be the Rev. Donna Little.
Her lesson at the church at 2917 E. Myrtle St. is titled “White Stone Cemetery.”
Little is a resident of Sequim and is a licensed and ordained Unity minister.
A time for silent meditation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
Child care is available during the service.
Bible school starts
PORT ANGELES — Camp Moose on the Lodge Bible vacation school is set to begin Monday.
Youth entering first through sixth grades can partake in the free camp held at Bethany Pentecostal Church, 508 S. Francis St.
The camp will be held 9 a.m. to noon Monday through Friday, July 20.
Crafts, music, games, bible stories and snacks will be provided.
