PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles High School freshmen are invited to be introduced to the school on Rider Day on Wednesday.
The Class of 2020 will gather from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. in the main gym at the school at 304 E. Park Ave.
They will meet advisers, counselors and the principal; have sandwiches for lunch; and be offered a Frisbee game.

Caregiver groups
SEQUIM — The Alzheimer’s Association is offering caregiver support groups in Room 401 of Sequim Bible Church, 847 N. Sequim Ave.
Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m.
The groups provide a consistent and caring place for people to learn, share and gain emotional support from others who are also on a journey of providing care to a person with memory loss, according to a news release.

PT Yacht Club gives $1,500 scholarships
PORT TOWNSEND — The Port Townsend Yacht Club has awarded $1,500 scholarships Lennard Noller and to Laura Stefaniak, both students at the Northwest School of Wooden Boatbuilding.
Noller’s passion is finding solutions to environmental concerns that affect oceans, and his commitment is to addressing these topics within the maritime industry through education, alternative propulsion/energy and the use of sustainable materials, according to a news release.
Leading up to his present educational goals, he has been involved in the operation and restoration of the schooner Adventuress, the schooner Seaward and the soon-to-be-launched green sistership, the Matthew Turner in San Francisco.
Stefaniak came to the school without previous knowledge about the maritime or nautical
life but was driven to increase her life experiences centered around all things having to do with boats, according to a news release.
Specifically, her aim is to become an able-bodied mariner and boatbuilder.
After school, her focus is to stay in the area and pursue a career with boats.
The Port Townsend Yacht Club annual garage sale fundraiser held in October and funds donated annually by Port Townsend Yacht Club members are awarded to students to encourage and assist them in pursuing an education in a maritime field of study. Students must be residents of Jefferson County.
