PORT ANGELES — Donations for the Clallam County Historical Society garage sale are being accepted.
Donations are taken at the former Lincoln School at the corner of Eighth and C streets on the west side of the building until Aug. 21 on Tuesdays and Thursdays between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The sale days will be Friday, Aug. 29, and Saturday, Aug. 30, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Any items left over will be offered for sale at half-price Friday, Sept. 5, from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.
On Saturday, Sept. 6, all remaining items will be sold at a dollar a bag from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Jazz soloist to perform in PC concert
PORT ANGELES — The Peninsula College Vocal Jazz Ensemble will host vocal jazz soloist Christian Chavarria of Dallas in a special concert Thursday.
The concert will be at 7 p.m. in the Peninsula College Little Theater, 1502 E. Lauridsen Blvd.
One of Dallas’ top music producers and artist developers, Chavarria is making his first appearance on the Olympic Peninsula and will be accompanied by local jazz artists Al Harris on piano, Terry Smith on drums and Ted Enderle on bass.
The concert will also feature Peninsula College Vocal Jazz students Misha Cassella-Blackburn, Gabe Bagno, Dana Marklund, Jessie Spicher, Marissa Wilson, Daniel Camper, Brandi Larson and Janet Lucas, directed by Elaine Gardner-Morales.
Chavarria studied under the direction of Morales when she taught at Brookhaven College in the Dallas area.
In 2001, Chavarria established C-Factory Productions, a production company that has produced several professional and budding artists from all over the world, according to a news release. C-Factory also produces music for the broadcast division of the Universal Music Group label for television shows and film.
Chavarria is also the chief operations officer for Createvation School of the Arts, located in Frisco, Texas, where he specializes in artist development in the areas of voice, stage presence, piano, violin, guitar, bass, songwriting, music theory and social marketing.

SARC group meets
SEQUIM — The volunteer group Citizens for SARC will meet at Fifth Avenue Retirement Center, 500 W. Hendrickson Ave., on Thursday at 6 p.m.
The goal of the group is to inform the public about the upcoming Sequim Aquatic Recreation Center levy ballot measure in the February election.

Violin ‘wizard’ plays
SEQUIM — Electric violin “wizard” Geoffrey Castle will perform during the fourth annual Summertime Music! Outdoor Concert Series at the Sequim Library, 630 N. Sequim Ave.
He will play from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday.
Bring picnics, blankets and chairs.
Seattle-based Castle has performed around the world while on his mission to change the way people hear the violin, according to a news release.

Boat safety class slated this Saturday
PORT ANGELES — The Coast Guard Auxiliary Flotilla 42 will sponsor a boating safety class, “About Boating Safety,” at the Coast Guard Base on Ediz Hook at 9:30 a.m. Saturday.
This class qualifies participants for a Washington State Boater Education Card, which is required for all boaters younger than 60.
The cost is $15 per person or $20 per couple.

Fiber artist shows
PORT ANGELES — Surface design artist Sue Nylander will show her work at the Cabled Fiber Studio during the Second Weekend Art Walk on Saturday.
The show is from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the studio, located at 106 N. Laurel St.
Admission is free.
Fascinated with art history, especially Asian and African cultures, Nylander has made a lifetime commitment to studying and sharing numerous techniques through her artwork of garments and quilts, fashion and trunk shows and teachings, according to a news release.
