PORT TOWNSEND — The Jefferson County Association of Realtors with the Jefferson County Home Builders Association will host a candidate forum from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 11.
The public is invited to the free forum, focusing on housing and community development, at the Wheeler Theater in Fort Worden State Park, 200 Battery Way.
Candidates taking part include incumbent 24th District state Rep. Steve Tharinger, D-Sequim, and his Republican challenger, former Clallam County Commissioner Jim McEntire; incumbent 24th District state Rep. Mike Chapman, D-Port Angeles, and Republican challenger Jodi Wilke of Port Townsend; and Jefferson County Commissioner District 3 candidates Greg Brotherton and Jon Cooke.

The forum will be moderated by Nathan Gorton of Washington Realtors.
Area radio control clubs donate money
SEQUIM — Representatives from area radio control clubs recently donated $3,615 to Volunteer Hospice of Clallam County (VHOCC).
The funds were aggregated during the 2017 Radio Air Control Demonstration/Raffle, in association with the 2017 Air Affaire.
They were presented by representatives Bonnie Williams and Ed Velardi of two local Academy of Model Aeronautics clubs, Olympic RC Modelers and Sequim Aeronauts, respectively, according to a news release.
Proceeds support VHOCC’s efforts to provide care for the terminally ill, their caregivers and their families.
The two local AMA clubs will provide RC flying throughout the weekend and 100 percent of all raffle proceeds will again benefit VHOCC.
