BRINNON — Brinnon Fire Department firefighter/advanced EMT Aaron Kronlund was recently promoted to lieutenant by fire commissioners Ken McEdwards, Ron Garrison and Meril Smith.
Kronlund joined the department in 2014 and has nine years of fire service with a degree in fire science.
He trains volunteer firefighters and emergency medical transponders.
Kronlund will be assigned to C-shift station 41 under the supervision of the fire chief and assumed his official duties April 1.
Clallam libraries
All libraries in the North Olympic Library System will be closed Friday, April 28, to allow staff to attend an in-service training day.
The Port Angeles, Sequim and Forks libraries will reopen at 10 a.m. Saturday, April 29.
The Clallam Bay Library will reopen Monday, May 1.

Unity speaker
PORT ANGELES — Unity in the Olympics’ 10:30 a.m. Sunday worship service guest speaker will be the Rev. Donna Little.
Her lesson is titled “Palm Sunday: Journey Back to Jerusalem.”
According to a news release: “What happens when we return to the place of significant energy and events? How does the past influence our experience of the present?”
Little has been a licensed and ordained Unity minister for more than 10 years and is a resident of Sequim.
A time for silent meditation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
Child care is available during the service.
Jesus Parade
PORT TOWNSEND — The public is invited to attend the 26th Palm Sunday Jesus Parade at 3 p.m. Sunday.
Those interested in participating are advised to meet at the U.S. Bank parking lot, located at 1239 Water St., at 2:30 p.m.
Event planners encourage entries that will honor Jesus and his walk into Jerusalem, about 2,000 years ago.
Music will be provided by Pastor Jonathan Simonson of Sequim Valley Foursquare Church.
After the parade, refreshments will be served at Adams Street Park, located next to Nifty Fiftys, 817 Water St.

Maundy Thursday
SEQUIM — Maundy Thursday and Easter services have been scheduled at Trinity United Methodist Church, 100 S. Blake Ave.
A 6 p.m. soup supper will precede the 6:45 service on Maundy Thursday, April 13.
The service will feature “Two Faces in the Shadows,” a dramatic dialogue between Simon Peter and Judas Iscariot after the crucifixion of Jesus.
Communion will be served.
The next day, Good Friday (April 14), the sanctuary will be open from 9 a.m. to noon for prayer and meditation.
Those attending the Easter service at 10 a.m. Sunday, April 16, are invited to place a blossom on the flower cross in the sanctuary just before the service.
The Trinity Singers and Handbell Choir will perform, and the Rev. Bill Green will deliver the message.
A light brunch will be available from 9 a.m. to 9:45 a.m., resuming after the service, when children can participate in an Easter egg hunt.
Passover demo
PORT LUDLOW — The public is invited to a free demonstration presenting how Jesus fulfilled the ancient fest of Passover at 6 p.m. Sunday.
The demonstration, titled “Messiah in the Passover,” will be conducted by Daniel Nessim at Port Ludlow Community Church, 9534 Oak Bay Road.
According to a news release, “ ‘Messiah in the Passover’ gives the Christian community insight into Jewish traditions so that the Jewish roots of Christianity can be better understood. This program also helps the Jewish and Christian communities understand their common heritage.”
Nessim is the son of Jewish parents whose mother is a Holocaust survivor and whose father’s family is from Baghdad and Cairo.
