PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles Citizen Action Network and The Answer For Youth will host the fourth annual Overdose Awareness Walk in Port Angeles today.
The walk is scheduled to start in front of the Clallam County Courthouse bell tower at 5 p.m. The group will walk north and finish at City Pier, where there will be multiple speakers.
Speakers at the event include the Revs. Joe Descala and Tom Steffan, survivors and members of the recovery community.
People are encouraged to bring signs to hold during the walk, pictures of loved ones and anything else to get their message across.
The walk is just one of hundreds planned across the world on International Overdose Awareness Day.

Green River Mountain Men event slated
SEQUIM — The Green River Mountain Men’s annual rendezvous at the Peninsula Longrifle’s location just south of Sequim on Saturday and Sunday.
The rendezvous is set for 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day off Slab Camp Road just off of Lost Mountain Road; directional signs
will be placed along the way.
The re-enactment of the annual fur trappers’ gatherings in the early 1800s features historic-style campsites, traders and period-dressed re-enactors and hands-on opportunities for the entire family.
Activities include black-powder shoots, primitive archery, seminars on a wide variety of fur trade skills and lore, music, children’s activities and a traders’ row.
Admission is free. A shooter’s fee is $25 per person for ages 13 and older.
The Green River Mountain Men is a nonprofit organization of men and women dedicated to educating the community about the pre-1840s fur trade era.

The SmileMobile visits community for appointments
PORT ANGELES — The SmileMobile will be parked at Jefferson Elementary School, 218 E. 12th St, from Monday, Sept. 10 to Friday, Sept. 14.
Those interested in the service are requested to make an appointment.

The SmileMobile is staffed by a dentist, clinic manager and dental assistant.
It’s staff will provide dental examinations to children ages birth through high school and pregnant women Monday and Tuesday, Sept. 10 and 11.
Treatments will be scheduled by appointment for the remainder of it’s stay.
SmileMobile accepts Apple Health and offers a sliding fee scale based on family income and size.
The Arcora Foundation SmileMobile travels the state offering dental services to children, pregnant women and family members (if capacity allows) who might not otherwise have access to dental care.
Unity speaker scheduled for this weekend
PORT ANGELES — Unity in the Olympics’ 10:30 a.m. Sunday service speaker will be the Rev. Donna Little.
Her lesson at the church at 2917 E. Myrtle St. is titled “The Way of Health.”
Little is a resident of Sequim and is a licensed and ordained Unity minister.
A time for silent meditation will be held from 10 a.m. to 10:15 a.m.
Child care is available during the service.
Outdoor Service
PORT ANGELES — Peninsula Evangelical Friends Church will hold its worship services outdoors at 10 a.m. Sunday.
Members of the public are invited to join the services at Green Point, 868 Gehrke Road.
Speakers will talk about their time in Myanmar/Burma during the event.
A “Bring-and-Share” potluck dinner will follow the service.
Directions are: Gehrke Road can be accessed from Old Olympic Highway east of Siebert Creek at Wild Currant Way, then bear left at the end of Gehrke and follow the lane to Green Point, according to a news release.
Peninsula Evangelical Friends regularly gather for services at 9:30 a.m. at 1291 N. Barr Road, with Sunday School Bible Study following at 11 a.m.
