PORT ANGELES — The One of a Kind Art Gallery is seeking artists and artisans to be a part of their open exhibit “Birds of a Feather.”
The exhibition is to “honor the diverse and amazing variety of birds making their home in our area,” according to the art gallery web site.
The exhibit is open to all media and will include 2S and 3A art for adults and children. There will be prizes for all ages.
Artwork is accepted for delivery April 8 to 11 and the exhibit runs from April 14 to 20 at the gallery, 115 E. Railroad Ave., Suite 105. For more information go to https://www.oneofakindartgallery.com/ and click the tab marked “Birds of a Feather.”
Chorus donation
SEQUIM — The Sequim Community Orchestra received a $1,500 donation from the Sequim Community Christmas Chorus.
The donations will be applied to summer classroom rental, instrument investment and instruction.
This year, the spring program will extend its classes into the summer months at the request of some of its students,according to a news release.
The program students are slated to join the Sequim Community Orchestra Ensemble for their Friday, June 8 concert at the Seventh Day Adventist Church, 30 Sanford Lane. Donations will be accepted.
Each class will perform, with the Youth Orchestra — the most advanced students — performing the 1812 Overture with the community ensemble, according the release.
In 2017, the chorus contributed $1,000 of their proceeds to the strings program.

Port Angeles district gives AmeriCorps certificates
PORT ANGELES — Port Angeles School District AmeriCorps members received certificates of appreciation in recognition of National AmeriCorps Week.
Michelle Gentry, AmeriCorps program coordinator, introduced staff members during a March 8 school district board meeting.
Gentry told the board that these AmeriCorps staff members contribute more than 16,000 hours of work throughout the District during the school year.
AmeriCorps week is March 11-17.
Boating safety class
PORT ANGELES — The U.S. Coast Guard Auxiliary will offer a boating safety class from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, April14.
Those interested have until Thursday, April 12 to register for the course. To sign up for the class, call 360-452-1135.
Instructions for enrolling will be provided following registration.
The class at the Coast Guard Station on Ediz Hook meets state and federal boating requirements.
On successful completion, participants will receive a lifetime card.
Lawn aeration service
PORT ANGELES — Boy Scout Troop 1498 will offer lawn aeration service to Port Angeles and Sequim areas Saturday and Sunday, April 14 and 15.

The cost is $59 for a city lot.
Owners are not required to be home to receive the service but do need to have their lawns mowed, underground sprinkler heads marked and dog waste picked-up.
Checks are made payable to Scout Troop 1498.
Coast Guard finds divers
SEATTLE — A Coast Guard aircrew from Port Angeles located a father and son diving pair after they became separated from their boat while diving near the San Juan Islands.
The father, 46, and son, 18, from Forest Grove, Ore., were located safe on land Thursday and were transported back to their dive boat and reunited with family by a Coast Guard Station Bellingham boat crew. No injuries were reported.
The divers were reported missing to Coast Guard Sector Puget Sound at 1:35 p.m., by the father and grandfather of the divers and operator of the dive boat, who is from Anacortes, after the divers didn’t surface at the planned location of Colville Island.
The Station Bellingham boat crew was diverted and an aircrew aboard an MH-65 Dolphin helicopter from Air Station Port Angeles was launched at 1:45 p.m. The aircrew located the divers at Point Colville on Lopez Island at 2:24 p.m.The divers swam to the Coast Guard boat and the boat crew helped them climb aboard the boat and transported them back to their boat.
