NEWS BRIEFS: 7-year-old taken to hospital after wreck east of Sequim . . . and other items

SEQUIM — A 7-year-old boy was transported to Olympic Medical Center as a precaution after a wreck 6 miles east of Sequim.

His name was not released because of his age. Hospitals will not provide statements of the condition of a patient without a name.

The adults in the wreck at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday were not hurt, according to the State Patrol.

Ryan Snider, 29, of Sequim was driving eastbound on U.S. Highway 101 about 6 miles east of Sequim when traffic abruptly stopped for a vehicle making a left turn onto Pierce Road, according to the State Patrol.

Snider was unable to stop and swerved into the westbound shoulder, troopers said.

Kenneth Powell, 58, of Sequim, who was traveling west in a Nissan Xterra on the highway, hit Snider’s Ford truck, the State Patrol said.

The boy was a passenger in Powell’s vehicle.

Both vehicles were destroyed in the wreck.
