PORT ANGELES — A holiday flea market opens Friday in the downtown building that had housed Maurices, the women’s clothing store.
Local vendors will market handcrafted furniture, jewelry, household gift items, CDs, collectibles and vintage items inside the building at 104 W. First St.
The large building is next to the “Olympic Visions” mural, Conrad Dyar Memorial Fountain and community Christmas tree.
The flea market is being run by John Nelson, longtime North Olympic Peninsula event planner, tour guide and former Peninsula Daily News music columnist.
Nelson said one vendor space at the market will be sponsored by Brocante Antique Mall, a downtown business.
It will sell glassware, china and other items, with proceeds from the sales going to Operation Uplift, the cancer support organization for Peninsula residents.
Nelson said the flea market will be open from this week’s “Black Friday” through Sunday, Jan. 4.
Its hours will be 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Saturday and 11 a.m. to
4 p.m. on Sundays.
Nelson said vendor booths and table spaces are still available.
“We really want to build it up as we approach Christmas,” he said.
