New advertising director named

PORT ANGELES — Suzanne Williams has been named as the new advertising director of the Peninsula Daily News, its weekly newspaper, Sequim This Week, and its Web site, www.peninsuladailynews.com.

She succeeds Sean McDonald, who had been advertising director since February 2000.

McDonald left the PDN on Friday to become publisher of the Sentinel and Enterprise, a daily newspaper in Fitchburg, Mass.

Williams will come aboard as advertising director on Monday, Sept. 21.

Williams is now the advertising director at The Wenatchee World, a daily newspaper serving Central Washington.

Williams began her career in the newspaper industry in 1987 while still in college.

Early years

She started at The Columbian in Vancouver, Wash., and spent about 19 years there, going from the Circulation Department to the Advertising Department.

Williams became advertising director at the Daily Record in Ellensburg before moving to Wenatchee.

She enjoys hiking, biking and reading and has two young daughters.

“I thank Sean for years of energy, commitment, expertise and professionalism and join everyone here in wishing him success as a daily newspaper publisher in New England,” said John Brewer, publisher and editor of the PDN’s operations.

“Rapidly evolving technology and continued unsettled economic conditions present difficult challenges to all businesses — as well as great opportunities.

“I believe Suzanne is exceptionally well qualified with her talent, versatility and broad experience to build upon our record of growth — and to capitalize further on our unique readership and Peninsula-wide marketplace presence.”
