PORT TOWNSEND — When Ruth Merryman and Anne Schneider started a clothing bank for low-income women seeking jobs three years ago, the same question kept coming up:
What were they going to do to help women keep jobs once they found them?
Now, Schneider and Merryman have the answer — a networking group.
“It takes more than clothes to keep a job,” Schneider says. “We want to give them as many tools as we can.”
The group, Working Image Network, will meet from 6 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. the first Monday of each month in the conference room of the Skookum Building, 385 Benedict St., starting in January.
The clothing bank is in the same location.
The first meeting will be highlighted by “One Woman’s Story,” the story of a woman who overcame obstacles to succeed in the work force.
Schneider hopes future topics will come out of members’ needs and include topics such as getting along with coworkers, meeting employers’ expectations and teamwork.
