NEAH BAY — Score three for Neah Bay High School and the U.S. Coast Guard.
The high school on the Makah Reservation received three lighted scoreboards — one for football, the others for basketball — from the Coast Guard Recruiting Command.
More than 200 people viewed the new scoreboards displayed in the high school gymnasium during a ceremony last week keynoted by Rear Adm. Sally Brice-O”Hara, Coast Guard director of personnel.
“The Makah peoples have been here for many hundreds of years,” Brice-O’Hara said, “the Coast Guard for some time less.
“Yet the ocean binds us inseparably and naturally through our work and our lives. . . .
“It is very fitting that the U.S. Coast Guard — the recruiters, Station Neah Bay and Group/Air Station Port Angeles — helped Neah Bay High School and the Red Devils get these scoreboards we have several things in common.”
