Motorist alert: Highway 19 work to slow traffic between Chimacum, airport starting 7 a.m. Monday

CHIMACUM — East Jefferson County motorists are advised to avoid state Highway 19 from Chimacum to Airport Road at Jefferson County International Airport on Monday through Thursday while asphalt is repaired.

Terry Barnett, maintenance superintendent with the state Department of Transportation, said work will begin at 7 a.m. Monday and last until 3 p.m. each day through Thursday.

Barnett said motorists who drive the route can expect flaggers directing one-way alternating traffic north and south, which could cause driver delays in both directions.

Motorists are advised to avoid delays by using state Highway 20 between Discovery Bay and to the Highway 19 junction south of Port Townsend.
