SEQUIM — A Lakewood man was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center after he crashed his motorcycle Monday morning.
Gary M. Cooper, 43, was riding west on U.S. Highway 101 near Sequim Bay State Park when the 2003 Harley-Davidson crashed into the guardrail about 6:30 a.m. and Cooper was thrown, the State Patrol said.
The motorcycle continued sliding across the highway and landed in a ditch, troopers said.
He was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle with broken arms, plus sternum, rib and jaw injuries, the State Patrol said.
The State Patrol listed driver fatigue as the accident’s cause.
Cooper was cited for negligent driving and driving a motorcycle without a motorcycle endorsement.
Neither drugs nor alcohol were thought to be contributing factors to the wreck, State Patrol said.
Cooper was wearing a helmet.
The accident blocked the westbound lane and a one-way, alternating traffic pattern was used until about 7 a.m.
