CARLSBORG — A Sequim man died when he crashed his motorcycle — possibly at 100 mph — into the rear of a car traveling in the same direction.
Tedy William Cook, 33, of Sequim was riding his 1994 Kawasaki Ninja motorcycle at high speeds at about 9 p.m. Saturday on Carlsborg Road, Sgt. John Keegan of the Clallam County Sheriff’s Department said Monday.
“We had witnesses say they had seen him going at about 100 miles per hour,” Keegan said.
The speed limit on that road is 35 mph, which is the speed the Toyota Corolla Matrix was traveling when the motorcycle ran into it while both were traveling southbound.
“The Matrix was going about 35 [mph], the witnesses told us,” Keegan said.
Cook was not wearing a helmet at the time of the crash, the sergeant added.
“The initial cause of the crash appears to be speed, but it is still under investigation,” Undersheriff Ron Peregrin said.
