QUILCENE — A Shelton motorcyclist was listed in satisfactory condition at Harborview Medical Center on Saturday after a three-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 101.
Timothy G. Oakes, 53, was airlifted to the Seattle hospital Friday after the wreck at 10:47 a.m., according to a news release. The other two drivers involved in the collision were uninjured.
Two motorcycles were following a 2011 Chevrolet Aveo traveling north on Highway 101 on Friday morning.
Stella R. Harpole, 29, who was driving the Chevrolet Aveo, signaled and stopped for traffic to make a left turn onto Leland Valley Road.
Timothy J. Spangler, 54, who was driving a black 2002 Kawasaki VN750 motorcycle, slowed and steered to the right.
Oakes’ black Honda CB750 motorcycle struck Spangler’s motorcycle, creating a domino effect. Spangler’s motorcycle then struck Harpole’s Chevrolet Aveo.
The State Patrol cited Oakes with following too closely.
All the drivers involved were wearing seat belts, and the motorcyclists were wearing legal helmets, the State Patrol said.
The three vehicles were removed from the highway with reportable damage.
