MARROWSTONE — A motorcycle rider was reported to be in satisfactory condition Tuesday after colliding with the trailer of a logging truck on Marrowstone Island on Monday.
Brandon Jackson, 29, of Port Ludlow was airlifted to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle after he collided with the trailer of a logging truck at about 5 p.m. Monday.
Jackson was traveling eastbound on state Highway 116 at Nolton Road when a logging truck driven by Michael Handly, 62, of Quilcene was turning onto the highway traveling westbound from a driveway, according to a State Patrol memo.
Jackson entered a curve at a high rate of speed and as Handly made the turn, the truck’s trailer straddled the center line and Jackson struck the trailer, according to the State Patrol.
The roadway was fully blocked for about 45 minutes, State Patrol troopers said.
Jackson’s motorcycle was completely destroyed and he was airlifted to Harborview. As of Tuesday morning, he was in satisfactory condition, according to a Harborview spokesperson.
Handly was uninjured and the truck and trailer undamaged, the State Patrol said.
The State Patrol said the cause of the crash that Jackson was traveling too fast.
