Today is the first day of school for the Sequim, Cape Flattery, Quilcene and Brinnon school districts.
Most grades in the Port Angeles area began Tuesday. Port Angeles kindergarten will begin Friday.

Most Chimacum school district classes also began Tuesday, with kindergarten having a staggered start. The alternative program in the district has meetings scheduled by school grade throughout the first week, Superintendent Rick Thompson said.
Crescent School District in Joyce began classes earlier than other North Olympic Peninsula school districts; the first day of school was last Thursday.
Sequim’s Olympic Peninsula Academy will have Otter Day on Thursday.
Classes will resume Thursday at the Quilayute Valley School District in Forks.
The Port Townsend Opportunity Community Experience, Academics, Navigation (Ocean), the independent study alternative learning program for kindergarten through 12th-grade students held at Blue Heron, will begin Monday.
Due to the ongoing labor strike by members of Local 302 of the International Union of Operating Engineers in Western Washington, the start of school at the new Salish Coast Elementary is set for this coming Tuesday.
The first day of the fall quarter at Peninsula College will be Sept. 24.
